Jylana L. Sheats, PhD, MPH is an applied behavior scientist who has leveraged her education and experience to lead, shape, and innovate across sectors. Her efforts have primarily focused on applying behavioral theories and frameworks to understand, predict and guide health behavior change among diverse. She is currently a Civic Science Fellow at the Aspen Institute where she co-leads the Our Future is Science (OFIS) initiative. OFIS works with youth to explore the links between STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) to social justice– with the goal of positioning societally minded youth leaders and innovators who will diversify and push science forward in the 21st century. Jylana is a graduate of Spelman College (B.A., Psychology), Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine (M.P.H., Nutrition), and Indiana University – Bloomington School of Public Health (Doctorate, Health Behavior, Public Affairs). She received post-doctoral training at Stanford School of Medicine (Behavioral Medicine) with a focus on designing digital health behavior change interventions for racial / ethnic minority and underserved populations.
