With spring break just around the corner, this is the perfect time to boost your confidence and awareness so you can stay safe, no matter where your plans take you! In collaboration with Health Services’ Safe Spring Break Beach Party, this empowering, hands-on course will be led by Sensei Brett Geaber of Innovate Karate. Sensei Brett is a first degree in Kobudo (weapons) and a fourth degree Black Belt in Shorin Ryu Shidokan. He has spent more than thirty years studying martial arts, His passion and enthusiasm for teaching martial arts and seeing his students succeed is his greatest accomplishment. This course will focus on the knowledge, best practices, and techniques you need to avoid and exit potentially violent situations of all kinds. Equip yourself with the skills you need and the confidence to be safe in dangerous situations with our Self-Defense program here at Campus Rec!
Self-defense not only equips individuals with necessary skills but also promotes physical fitness, mental well-being, and build muscle memory. Through movement, awareness training, and scenario-based practices, you will gain the ability to remain balanced under pressure, trust your instincts, and react with composure and assurance. These benefits will go a long way beyond the workshop; they create stronger physical awareness, safer decision-making, and an elevated sense of strength.

Self-defense is also a way to learn your strengths, use them in practical ways, break free safely from dangerous situations. The physical activity from self-defense can also help manage stress and improve your overall wellbeing. Whether you’re preparing for spring break, walking across campus at night, or simply looking to feel more confident, this workshop will truly make a difference in your life.
Located at the Anna Fascitelli Fitness and Wellness Center in our GRX studio, our Self-Defense workshop will take place on March 11th from 6-7 PM.
