Last week, several members of the Menden-Deuer Lab past and present attended the 2025 ASLO Aquatic Science Meeting in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Susanne, our fearless leader and president of ASLO (Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography), is pictured here, welcoming everyone to the meeting. She also presented a talk in the “Long-Term Perspectives on Marine Pelagic Ecosystems” session.

Rickie Ewton, a PhD Candidate in the lab, presented a talk in the session “Taking the Pulse of Mixotrophic Protists in Aquatic Ecosystems.” She also presented a poster on behalf of a previous SURFO student, Didi Colon Maldonado.

Frankie Lopez, a PhD student in the lab, presented in the “Long-Term Perspectives on Marine Pelagic Ecosystems” session.

Alex Sinno, an undergraduate alumni of the lab, presented in the poster session.

Amanda Herbst, a previous SURFO student in the lab, presented on her SURFO project and the work done on it since in a session on building data literacy!

It was a hugely successful meeting and so much fun to attend with so many lab members!
