Biography
Nikola Budzińska is a freelance journalist based in Warsaw, Poland, reporting on environmental issues, borderland ecosystems, and human rights across Central and Eastern Europe.
Her work combines field reporting with in-depth interviews, on-the-ground documentation, and analysis of legal and policy frameworks. She focuses on the intersection of environment, migration, and governance, with particular attention to how political decisions impact local communities and vulnerable groups.
She has published in international outlets including The European Correspondent, Transitions, New Eastern Europe, and taz, covering topics such as environmental degradation, climate pressures, and social inequalities in the region.
Nikola is also involved in cross-border journalistic collaborations, working on stories related to abortion access and reproductive rights, as well as the humanitarian situation at the Polish-Belarusian border. Her reporting highlights transnational dynamics, state policies, and the lived experiences of people affected by border regimes.
She has received support from international journalism programs, including the BIRN Summer School for Investigative Journalism and the SDG Lab Fellowship. Her work is driven by a commitment to in-depth, evidence-based reporting and amplifying underreported voices across the region.
