Biography

Penelope “Penny” Overton has been the climate and environment reporter for the Portland Press Herald since 2023, specializing in the science and economics of Maine’s heritage industries. Her reporting on forever chemicals documents the public health and financial impacts of this emerging class of pollutants. She serves on the Board of Directors for the New England First Amendment Coalition and is a graduate of Yale University.
