This June, ten reporters and editors will spend a week in residence at URI, participating in scientific fieldwork, lab exercises and panel discussions, and lectures Metcalf Institute’s globally competitive and career-changing Annual Science Immersion Workshop for Journalists.
These ten Metcalf Fellows will study climate change, fisheries and water management, sea level rise, and coastal pollution. They’ll gain a foundation in the practice of science and new story ideas and contacts for reporting. Fellows tell us that they also benefit from the off-deadline time with researchers and one another.
For a limited time, you have a chance to participate in this great opportunity for journalists through our winter 2019 donor initiative: $8,000 will Fund a Fellow, covering the costs for one of the Fellows at the 21st Annual Science Immersion Workshop (June 2-7).
Donors to the Fund a Fellow initiative will be acknowledged on Metcalf’s website and in the May newsletter.
Your support of a Metcalf Fellow is one of the most effective ways to promote high quality reporting on critical environmental issues that impact our communities, our nation and our world. Metcalf alumni collectively reach millions of news consumers globally every day.
Help expand accurate, contextualized environmental journalism this year. Please make a gift to Metcalf Institute’s Fund a Fellow by March 31, 2019.
