Biography

Gaea Cabico is an award-winning journalist from the Philippines covering the environment, climate change, and food systems through a social justice lens. Her stories have appeared in Science Magazine, Inside Climate News, Deutsche Welle, Sentient, Prism, Atmos, Eos, and Dialogue Earth.

In 2024, Gaea won an award for a story about climate education in the Philippines from the Covering Climate Now Awards. Judges called the work “nuts and bolts service journalism at its best.”

Gaea recently completed a Master’s degree in Journalism, specializing in Science, Health, and Environmental Reporting at New York University. She is currently based in Brooklyn.
