Sophia Schmidt reports on her home state for NPR member station Delaware Public Media. As a general assignment reporter, she has covered everything from election security to the first female Eagle Scouts, while focusing on science and environment stories including the effects of climate change on her low-lying state. Schmidt previously worked on NPR’s Weekend Edition in Washington, DC, where she produced politics, science and culture interviews, and contributed to Gracie Award-winning coverage of the #MeToo Movement. She has also written for The Berkshire Eagle in Pittsfield, MA. Schmidt graduated from Williams College with a BA degree in environmental policy and biology. When not working, Schmidt can be found in the pottery studio or at the nearest state park.
