Exploring Offshore Energy Alternatives in Japan

Join SeaAhead and CIC’s Japan Desk for a discussion about the future of offshore energy production.

Olaf de Swart is the co-founder of Solar Duck, which is working on a solution for generating affordable solar energy on the sea. For the past few years, SolarDuck has been developing cost-effective floating solar energy platforms for highly loaded areas such as large lakes and the sea.

Professor Tsumoru Shintake leads the OIST Wave Energy Project, which uses an array of small turbines standing on the seafloor, in shallow water, to harness the power of breaking waves to generate electricity.

Moderator: Lisa Fujise is the Program Manager of Venture Café Tokyo and will moderate the event and lead a discussion after the two presentations.
