Dr. Lang is an Environmental Economist with research expertise in valuation of environmental amenities, assessment of energy reduction programs, and climate change. In 2017, he received funding from NOAA/Sea Grant to examine the tourism impacts of the Block Island Wind Farm and valuation of the farm by permanent residents. He has also received funding from the Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources to examine the impact of onshore wind turbines on property values. Dr. Lang has been awarded and has successfully managed over $2 million in funding. These grants have led to many presentations to stakeholders and publications in leading peer-reviewed journal. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Carleton College and a PhD in Economics from Cornell University.

- Price-based Inferences into the Socio-economic Impacts of the Block Island Wind Farm - This study employed quantitative evaluation of tourism impacts of Block Island Wind Farm using short-term rental market (i.e., Airbnb).
