Jess Hiltz

Jess is a Graduate Teaching Assistant for the Department of Marine Affairs studying towards her M.A. in Marine Affairs. She earned her B.S. in both Marine Biology and Marine Affairs from URI. Her research interests include the impacts of offshore wind turbine operation on marine mammals off the East Coast of the U.S., as well as how policy can play a role in mitigating these impacts.

As an undergraduate student, Hiltz was a part of the RI C-AIM SURF program. During the program, she worked under Dr. Tracey Dalton on two research projects: investigating human uses around Narragansett Bay and interviewing women in marine science about the experiences, successes, and challenges they have encountered.
