Dr. Simona Trandafir is an Assistant Professor in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics at University of Rhode Island. She received a Ph.D in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics from University of Rhode Island (URI), a Masters Degree in Environmental and Natural Resource Management from the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, Romania and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, Romania. Her research focuses on sustainable energy management both on the supply and demand side. She currently explores the impact of the first U.S. off-shore wind farm on recreational choices of Block Island visitors. Additionally, she just finished a project for the Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources in which she conducted an analysis of the municipal energy trends in the state of Rhode Island and provided technical assistance to municipalities borrowing funds for energy efficiency improvements of their building portfolio.
