Instructors

URI has been committed to providing Mental Health First Aid training to members of the campus community since Summer 2017. Trainings are offered (virtually) three times each semester, and are scheduled in ways to accommodate professional work commitments.

URI has a multidisciplinary team of Nationally Certified Mental Health First Aid Instructors.

Lindsey Anderson, Ph.D., MHM (she/her)

Dr. Anderson is the Director of the Psychological Consultation Center at the University of Rhode Island. She has her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and Masters in Healthcare Management. Dr. Anderson provides both direct clinical service as well as supervision and training for graduate student clinicians and serves as Coordinator for Mental Health First Aid at the University of Rhode Island.

Lukas Chaves, M.S. (he/him)

Lukas is a Coordinator and works for Student Support and Advocacy Services and Disability, Access, & Inclusion. He provides case management for students facing nonacademic difficulties and delivers accessibility services for students with disabilities. He has his masters in clinical mental health counseling. 

Lt. Michael Donohue, M.S. (he/him)

Lt. Donohue is a thirty year veteran of the University of Rhode Island Police Department. He is a certified Crisis Responder and works with the Dean
of Students office as well as Human Resources to help students, staff, and faculty who may be experiencing a mental health crisis.

Karen Jennings Mathis, PhD, APRN-CNP, PMHNP-BC, FAED (she/her)

Dr. Jennings Mathis is an Assistant Professor and the Psychiatric Mental Health Specialty Track & Clinical Coordinator at the College of Nursing University of Rhode Island. Her research interests include the role of culture in the development and maintenance of eating disorders. 

Lisa Macaruso, Ed.D. (she/her)

Dr. Macaruso is the Assistant Director of the Academic Testing Center in the Office for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning. She is co-chair of the Student Affairs JEDI Committee, a member of the Student Success Team, and a search committee Diversity Advocate. Lisa has also earned the URI Safe Zone certification and is an Area Representative for the Professional Staff Association. 

Gina Maclure, M.S., LMFT (she/her)

Gina Maclure is the Clinic Coordinator of the Couple and Family Therapy Clinic at the University of Rhode Island. She has her Masters in Human Development and Family Studies. Gina provides clinical and administrative supervision for graduate student clinicians and teaches courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.

Brittney Miles, MSW (she/her)

Brittney is an Associate Athletic Director at the University of Rhode Island and serves as the Athletic Department liaison with several on campus partners. Previously, Brittney spent six years as Academic Advisor with University College for Academic Success working primarily with Football and Women’s Basketball student athletes.   

Christiana Molinski, M.S. (she/her)

Christiana Molinski serves a dual role as the Interim Director of the URI Women’s Center and a Coordinator of Outreach and Education for the Department of Public Safety. Christiana is a dual degree holder from the University of Rhode Island graduating with a BS in Sociology with a minor in Forensic Science and her Master’s Degree in Human Development and Family Studies.

Inglish Morgan, Ph.D., HS-BCP (she/her)

Dr. Morgan is a tenured associate professor in the Department of Human Services at the Community College of Rhode Island. She is a board-certified human service practitioner and has her Ph.D. in Human Services. She serves as the faculty director for the social and community services student field internships.

Kristin Ridge, M.A. (she/her)

Kristin Ridge is the Associate Dean of Students for Community Standards at the University of Rhode Island. She is responsible for the university conduct system and serves on the Behavioral Intervention and Sexual Assault Response Teams. Kristin holds a master’s degree in Student Personnel Administration from NYU and is a doctoral student in the Johnson & Wales Educational Leadership program.

Allegra Sacco, B.A. (she/her)

Allegra is a graduate student in the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program at the University of Rhode Island. She is interested in Health Psychology, specifically health behavior change, preventative medicine, and chronic disease management.

Jacqui Springer, Ph.D. (she/her)

Dr. Springer is the Assistant Dean of Student Support and Advocacy Services in the Dean of Students Office at URI. She has her PhD in School Psychology and oversees case management for students with non­academic difficulties, crisis management workshops, community education on mental illness and other factors impacting student well-being.
