This course is designed for biopharmaceutical manufacturers to ensure that their employees, who are working in upstream processing, have clear understandings of and technical accumen for aseptic cell culture and scale up. Lectures and hands-on laboratories prepare participants to work effectively in upstream bioprocessing suites which includes maintenance and monitoring of aseptic environments while culturing mammalian cells.

Who should attend this course?

Individuals working in the Biomanufacturing industry including roles such as Upstream Technician, Downstream Technician, Quality Assurance, Quality Control and Bioprocess Engineers

training

Objectives

Gain knowledge and training in cell separation technologies that preceed downstream purification of therapeutic proteins. Understand the principles behind cell harvesting methodologies such as cell lysis, centrifugation and depth filtration. Perform hands-on cell harvesting techniques resulting in optimization of crude protein recovery and functional comparisons of methods across the industry.

 How are the workshops run?

Courses are delivered through a combination of classroom presentations and hands on activities. The hands on activities take place in a clean gowned environment in our own GMP facility. This course is limited to a maximum of 15 participants.

What are the key benefits?

This course is designed for biopharmaceutical manufacturers to ensure that their Upstream and Downstream technicians understand and can employ the theories and practices of initial cell harvest and separation. Lectures and hands-on laboratories prepare participants with the knowledge and practical experiences necessary to perform mammalian cell harvest and separation protocols including centrifugation, cell lysis and various filtration methods. Critical parameters and performance indicators provide confirmation of technicians’ proficiencies in cell harvest and initial cell separation methodoogies.
