Scholarships

The following is a series of funding opportunities for you to consider as you explore opportunities for study abroad, independent projects, and post-graduation service projects, or graduate study as part of the Peace Corps Prep Program.

  • Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program -

    The Gilman Scholarship Program aims to diversify the kinds of students who study and intern abroad and the countries and regions where they go by offering awards to U.S. undergraduates who might otherwise not participate due to financial constraints.

  • Boren Scholarship and Fellowship -

    Awarded to undergraduates and graduate students to study less commonly taught languages in world regions critical to U.S. interests, and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East (up to $20,000 for a full academic year).

  • Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Program: Summer Enrichment Program -

    The Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Summer Enrichment Program is a six-week summer program designed to provide undergraduate students with a deeper appreciation of current issues and trends in international affairs, a greater understanding of career opportunities in international affairs, and the enhanced knowledge and skills to pursue such careers.

  • Critical Language Scholarship -

    The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program is an intensive overseas language and cultural immersion program for American students enrolled at U.S. colleges and universities.

  • Cultural Vistas Fellowship -

    Cultural Vistas will select up to 15 fellows to take part in this multinational professional development program that includes eight-week summer internships in Argentina, Germany, and Hong Kong.

  • Demers Foreign Language Fellowship -

    Awarded to Rhode Island residents and anyone who is a student at a Rhode Island college or university who wishes to pursue foreign language study.

  • Freeman-ASIA Scholarship -

    The Freeman-ASIA provides scholarships for U.S. undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need to study abroad in East or Southeast Asia.

  • Fulbright U.S. Student Program -

    Awarded to recent graduates and graduate students for individually designed study/research projects or for English Teaching Assistantships in more than 140 countries worldwide (support for 9-10 month grant period).

  • Fulbright UK Summer Institutes -

    The Fulbright UK Summer Institutes are three or four week programmes for US undergraduate students. Participants can explore the culture, heritage and history of the UK while experiencing higher education at a UK university.

  • Fund for Education Abroad (FEA) -

    The Fund for Education Abroad (FEA) invests in promising students with financial need who wish to study abroad.

  • Michael P. Metcalf Memorial Fund -

    The funds provide grants to college students to subsidize experiences intended to broaden their perspective and enhance personal growth.

  • Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA): Junior Summer Institute (JSI) -

    The Public Policy and International Affairs Program (PPIA) works to promote the inclusion and full participation of underrepresented groups in public service and to advance their leadership roles throughout our civic institutions serving domestic and international affairs.

  • The Samuel Huntington Public Service Award -

    The award allows recipients to engage in a meaningful public service activity for one year before proceeding on to graduate school or a career.

  • The William J. Clinton -

    The William J. Clinton Fellowship for Service in India is an immersive, 10-month volunteer service program matching young professionals with development organizations.

  • Thomas R. Pickering Graduate Fellowship -

    The Thomas R. Pickering Fellowship Program provides graduate students with financial support, mentoring and professional development to prepare them academically and professionally for a career with the U.S. Department of State.

  • Truman Scholarship -

    Awarded to juniors who want to make a difference: bright, outstanding young leaders committed to a career in public service ($30,000 for graduate study). Maximum of 4 nominees per year per institution.

  • USINDO Summer Studies -

    In addition to the language course, field trips, cultural programs, and volunteer work opportunities with local organizations in Yogyakarta, the program also includes a post-program event in Jakarta that is designed to broaden the students' perspective, knowledge, and exposure to contemporary issues facing Indonesia, while also giving them the opportunity to network with government officials, experts, academics, NGOs and private sector.
