Mission Statement
The Neuromotor Recovery and Rehabilitation (NMR2) Lab is dedicated to advancing the science of motor recovery by investigating the mechanisms underlying neuroplasticity and translating this knowledge into effective, accessible therapeutic interventions. Our work seeks to enhance functional independence, promote active participation, and improve quality of life for adults with cerebral palsy and other neurological conditions.
Lab Objectives
- Advance Neurorehabilitation for Adults with Cerebral Palsy
Develop and evaluate innovative therapeutic interventions to optimize functional recovery, neuromotor control, and quality of life in adults living with cerebral palsy. - Harness Experience-Dependent Neuroplasticity
Investigate how real-world environmental enrichment and task-specific engagement can promote adaptive neuroplasticity and functional restoration in adults with neurological injury. - Integrate Multimodal Rehabilitation Strategies
Examine the synergistic effects of combining physical, behavioral, and technology-assisted therapies to enhance motor recovery, reduce abnormal tone, and improve posture and gait. - Promote Lifelong Physical Activity and Participation
Develop and translate rehabilitation frameworks that extend beyond the clinic to encourage active lifestyles, social connectedness, and community participation for adults with neurological conditions.
