URI Physical Therapy Students Shine at Annual College of Health Sciences Research Night

Kingston, R.I. – April 22 – The University of Rhode Island’s College of Health Sciences hosted its second annual Student Research Night, drawing dozens of students from across multiple departments to showcase their innovative work on a wide range of health-related topics.

The event showcased the College’s commitment to interdisciplinary education, research, and community outreach aimed at promoting health and wellness across all stages of life. From public health initiatives to cutting-edge clinical research, student projects demonstrated a strong focus on real-world impact—advancing solutions to today’s most pressing health challenges.

Faculty and students alike contribute to the College’s mission of improving health outcomes and quality of life not only within the URI community, but also throughout Rhode Island and beyond.

Among the evening’s highlights was the announcement of the Best Poster Presentation award in the Doctoral category. Tyler Foster, a Ph.D. candidate in physical therapy with a specialization in health sciences, earned top honors for his outstanding research presentation: Reliability of Position Modified Upper Quarter Y-Balance Test – A New Clinical Tool.
