MCAT Guided Study Group

**The MCAT Guided Study Group registration for spring 2024 is now closed**

The URI MCAT Guided Study Group (GSG) is for any student or recent graduate planning to take the MCAT in Spring 2024. The group provides structure, encouragement, peer support, and guidance along the MCAT prep journey. It is not an MCAT preparation class. Rather, the GSG is a low-cost structured alternative for anyone who has decided to prepare for the MCAT through self-study.

Goals of the Guided Study Group:

  • Provide MCAT exam takers with a structured schedule to maintain an appropriate study timeline
  • Support members of the group academically and mentally throughout the MCAT prep process
  • Work together to provide guidance on MCAT topics to ensure that all group members are adequately prepared

Participants must commit to the following:

  • Attend required group meetings
  • Register early for exam date (Recommended test date: April 27th)
  • Meet deadlines for covering review material
  • Complete required number of full length exams (estimated to be 8)
  • Commit a minimum of 10 hours a week to prep work
  • Keep organized notes of review material and exam questions
  • Listen attentively and be respectful/supportive of group mates
  • Maintain confidentiality of group discussions

  • 4 AAMC Exams + 1 free exam
  • One MCAT material review textbook set 
    • Kaplan
    • Princeton review
    • Blueprint 
    • ExamKrackers

  • Skethcy MCAT
  • Jack Westin

Schedule:

The group will meet eleven times on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm during Spring Term 2024. o the first meeting, everyone takes a full-length MCAT diagnostic practice exam. Each meeting will be on Zoom on the following dates (NOTE: this schedule was recently revised):
