Professor Nash will be offering a new grand challenge class in the spring: HLT 400G: Public Health: Social Justice and Advocacy. This course introduces students to a comparative study of the relationship between public health and social justice using an ethical, global health, and environmental perspective. By emphasizing a broad integrative framework based on social justice, this course will help students to understand better the forces that have widened health inequalities worldwide and within societies. By unveiling the upstream causes of global health and social injustice, this class will encourage students to envision social and community actions that can promote health and a fairer distribution of health resources. The course will satisfy a specialization course for both Global and Environmental Health and Health Promotion tracts. Prerequisites include: Junior or Senior standing, completion of HLT 200 with a C or higher or permission of the professor
