HLT100G Perspectives on Public Health in the 21st Century is becoming two new and improved courses! HLT100G will become HLT101G Perspectives on Public Health in the 21st Century and HLT201 Contemporary Public Health Challenges in the US. Students who took HLT100G should not take HLT201. HLT101G is being offered for the first time in the spring 2024 semester. HLT201 will be available next year!
HLT101G Perspectives on Public Health in the 21st Century will continue to meet the A2, C1, and G outcomes and will serve as a prerequisite for HLT201. HLT101G will introduce students to public health concepts and will address the implications of controversial public health topics from a health policy perspective (cost, quality, access) and from an ethical standpoint.
HLT201 Contemporary Public Health Challenges in the US is a requirement for health studies (public health) majors. The course will introduce students to current and controversial public health topics. Students will be required to explore the implications of numerous contemporary topics from a public health perspective. Students will be required to demonstrate the ability to apply the social determinants of health, health disparities, and health policy to topics throughout the semester.
