Over 100 majors were awarded their BS in Health Studies at the College of Health Sciences ceremony held at the Ryan Center on May 19th. A diverse group of majors graduated with  40% identifying as racial or ethnic minorities.

 

Majors completed internships at the RI Department of Health, South County Hospital, URI SNAP-ed, nursing homes, insurance companies, community-based organizations, and wellness companies, etc. Majors worked hard to develop skills and to gain the knowledge and experience needed to promote health and well-being across Rhode Island and the United States.

 

 

We had majors who were scholar-athletes and majors who traveled abroad to Cuba, Indonesia, and Korea to further their education. There were majors who were active on campus and participated in groups such as iSTAND.  Some majors were active in Greek life, and others participated in Diversifying Individuals Via Education (D.I.V.E), Rhode Island and Powerful, Independent, Notoriously, Knowledgeable (PINK) women.

 

There were majors who were double majors or completed minors in Business, Communications, Human Development, and Family Studies, and Psychology.

 

Our graduates included mothers and fathers who worked hard for their families and brothers and sisters who served as role models. Some majors worked as teaching assistants, research assistants, and other jobs across the campus. Some majors worked full-time and put themselves though URI.

 

Our majors were a great asset to the university, and we have been thankful to serve as their advisers and to have them in class.
