When I was in high school, I always knew that I wanted to go to The University of Rhode Island. Growing up in Rhode Island, I wanted to stay close to my family, friends and the ocean so I knew that URI would be a great fit. URI had so much to offer through different majors, clubs and ways to get involved on campus and I felt this was the right choice for me.

Ask questions in the classroom – how, why, what if, etc. Establish relationships with your professors and advisors, they are some of your biggest advocates. Lastly, enable yourself to grow (personally and professionally) and take advantage of the opportunities provided.”

Ana Talamas ’18

“After I graduate I will be interning at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene for the summer under the Center for Health Equity. Also starting in the fall I will be attending New York University in order to complete a Master’s in Public Health specializing in Epidemiology. I am excited about these next steps in my career and feel very prepared to succeed in these endeavors because of the education I received from the Health Studies program.”
