Named after URI’s 10th President, the Robert L. Carothers Servant Leadership Award recognizes Outstanding Service to the URI Community Leadership.

Servant Leadership Questions

  1. How have you demonstrated a long-term commitment to making a positive and measurable impact related to a specific cause or social issue that affects URI, RI and/or the global community?
  2. How have you applied the Servant Leadership Model (Greenleaf, 1977) to your practice of leadership in a way that develops other leaders and encourages others to serve?
  3. Please provide concrete examples of how you have utilized each of the Ten Characteristics of a Servant Leader (Spears, 2010) in practice including: listening, empathy, healing, awareness, persuasion, conceptualization, foresight, stewardship, commitment to the growth of the people, and building community.
