Enrollment Services, in conjunction with the Provost Office, is responsible for authorizing the release of all student data, regardless of purpose or format. Enrollment Services does not own or release data related to University financials, athletics, employees or construction projects.
Requests from the public for student data should first review reports published by the Office of Institutional Research. The office publishes information on enrollment, graduation, class size and more. Additional data requests may be made by following the Public Records Request Guidelines. Please note the University is bound by FERPA in what it may release.
Requests from URI staff and departments for student data should follow the steps below:
- Review the reports published by the Office of Institutional Research. The office publishes information on enrollment (including by major, race and gender), graduation, class size and more.
- Ask your department chair or dean’s office, who have access to many data sets (queries) via e-Campus. Each dean’s office has a person responsible for scholarships who can assist with identifying potential scholarship recipients.
- Consider whether you are seeking a data set or data analysis. An example of a data set would be a list of graduates. An example of a data analysis would be graduation rate by enrollment status by major. Enrollment Services has limited capacity to produce time-intensive analyses.
- Data requests are reviewed once a week and we aim to respond within 10 business days. Some data requests may take longer depending on the complexity or during peak times such as the start and end of semesters or during Commencement.
- Log in using your URI email username and password and make your data request. Be as specific as possible.
