We are committed to advancing science, nurturing entrepreneurship, and transforming innovations from URI into solutions that improve the world.

Join our complimentary regional New England I-Corps short courses in partnership with MIT, tailored expressly for STEM researchers. These programs are perfect for you, whether you’re simply exploring an interest in entrepreneurship or are certain you want to create a startup.

They offer engineers and scientists a prime opportunity to assess the commercial viability of their research or innovation. 

Applications are open to both individuals and teams.


The Office of Intellectual Property and Economic Development is a department within the Division of Research and Economic Development and reports to the Vice President for Research and Economic Development. The role of the office includes the interpretation and implementation of the URI Intellectual Property Policy approved by the URI Board of Trustees on November 5, 2021.

We work hand-in-hand with the URI Innovations which complements our mission for technology transfer, commercialization, and partnering with industry collaborators.
