The start of the new grant fiscal year was May 1st and brought new changes to RI-INBRE’s administration and committee members.
Christopher Reid, PhD
Associate Professor of Bryant University
Dr. Reid was appointed as a Steering Committee member on May 1st, 2021. As a RI-INBRE investigator, he was awarded Collaborative Research, SURF and Proposal Development awards (2011-2020), and a NIH INBRE-COBRE Supplemental award (2020-2021). Dr. Reid received a NSF award in 2020 that is Bryant University’s first external funding mechanism!
Laura Williams, PhD
Associate Professor, Providence College
Dr. Williams was appointed as a Steering Committee member on May 1st, 2021. Dr. Williams was awarded Early Career Development and SURF Training awards (2015-2019), and she a RI-INBRE’s Bioinformatics Pilot Project award (2021-2022). Dr. Williams teaches Microbiology and Genomics at Providence College, and works with undergraduate research students during the academic years and summers to investigate genome evolution and molecular mechanisms of predatory bacteria.
Samantha Rosenthal, PhD
Assistant Professor, Johnson & Wales University
Johnson & Wales University (JWU) is officially a RI-INBRE partner institution! A town hall meeting was held and provided information for faculty and the attendance was well received with fifteen people in attendance. JWU’s faculty are eligible to submit proposals to apply for RI-INBRE grant funding in the coming fall. Dr. Samantha Rosenthal, Assistant Professor in the College of Health & Wellness has been appointed as our Steering Committee member.
