Acknowledging RI-INBRE Support

As a condition for accepting research support, either directly through a research or training award from the RI-INBRE Program, or through the use of its Core Facilities or services, the beneficiaries are required to acknowledge the RI-INBRE grant in their scientific meeting abstracts and publications along with a disclaimer and financial information including:

“Under the Stevens Amendment, each publication, press release, or other public facing document (i.e., websites, social media posts, conference presentations, resource guides and RFPs) describing research supported by a DoL, DoEd, or DHHS grant or cooperative agreement must clearly state:

  1. The percentage of the total costs of the program or project financed with federal funds.
  2. The total dollar amount of federal funds allocated to the project or program.
  1. The percentage and dollar amount of the total costs of the project or program financed by non-governmental/non-federal sources (e.g., University funds, private foundations or state funds).” (Link)

Compliance with NIH’s Public Access Policy is required for all publications.  Please choose the appropriate citation from below and modify according to your needs.

Grant citing in all abstracts/presentations, and publications by investigators, mentors, students, and SURF mentors, and in media articles:

Compliance with Foreign Co-Authors Policies

Prior approval is required before adding any foreign co-author to a manuscript supported by RI-INBRE funds.  This includes investigators funded by RI-INBRE and external users of the RI-INBRE core facilities.  If you are funded by RI-INBRE, please contact RI-INBRE leadership before establishing a collaboration with a foreign entity or before submitting a manuscript with a foreign co-author.  If you are an external user of RI-INBRE resources, please contact RI-INBRE leadership so that we may determine if your manuscript can cite the RI-INBRE grant.  Please see the following links for full instructions.

Published Manuscripts
Please provide one set of the abstracts and accepted/published manuscripts and PMID# of each manuscript, acknowledging the RI-INBRE grant, to: RI-INBRE Program office, 495E, College of Pharmacy, University of Rhode Island, 7 Greenhouse Road, Kingston, RI 02881, or by e-mail to: RI-INBRE.

All such abstracts/presentations, and publications are reported to NIH in our Annual Progress Report which is due at the end of February each year.

Failure to comply with the above requirements will result in termination of future financial support from the RI-INBRE Program and/or access to its Core Facilities and services.
