RI-INBRE Committee Changes
For the 2024-2029 RI-INBRE grant funding period, the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) requires that all INBRE programs have three committees: a Steering Committee (SC), an Executive Committee (EC) and an External Advisory Committee (EAC). In the new funding period, RI-INBRE’s current Steering Committee will become the new Executive Committee. The Executive Committee will be comprised of one faculty lead liaison from each of the nine participating research institutions (University of Rhode Island, Brown University, Bryant University, Johnson and Wales University, Providence College, Rhode Island College, Roger Williams University, Salve Regina University, and the Community College of Rhode Island.)
The Executive Committee assists the RI-INBRE Program Director and the Program Coordinator in effective program management. Input from members at the fall Executive Committee meeting and the winter joint Executive Committee/External Advisory Committee meeting is a key component in steering and improving the RI-INBRE program. In addition, the Executive Committee members can advocate for investigators and provide insight into the priorities of their institutions.
The new Steering Committee will now consist of Presidents and Provosts from each of the nine participating research institutions. The External Advisory Committee, which is comprised of seven members with expertise in research, mentoring, and administration, will remain unchanged in the 2024-2029 RI-INBRE grant funding period.
