RI-INBRE/COBRE Collaboration Supplemental Award
The “Nanoparticle-mediated drug delivery for inflammatory arthritis” project is led by Dr. Jamie Towle-Weicksel, a Rhode Island College RI-INBRE investigator, in collaboration with Dr. Eui Young So, a Rhode Island Hospital COBRE investigator. The one-year project was awarded in August 2021 and is RI-INBRE’s third Collaboration Supplement Award issued by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences and totaling $174,389.
RI-INBRE Women’s Health Supplemental Award
The first Women’s Health Supplemental Award, created by the Office of Research on Women’s Health, falls within RI-INBRE’s thematic area of Environmental Health Sciences. “Targeting quiescent E. coli for prevention of recurrent urinary tract infections” is carried out by Dr. Susan Meschwitz, at Salve Regina University, in collaboration with Dr. Jodi Camberg and Dr. David Rowley, University of Rhode Island investigators. The $268,789 award was issued in September 2021.
RI-INBRE Equipment Supplemental Award
The $209,364 supplemental equipment award, issued in September 2021 and originated by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, will purchase equipment for two RI-INBRE Centralized Core Facilities (CRCF) Extension Laboratories (CELs). At Providence College, the Keyence BZX Fluorescence Microscope will be installed in the Science Building LL53 (vivarium) under Dr. Victoria L. Templer of the Department of Psychology. Roger Williams University will receive a BD Biosciences Accuri C6 Plus flow cytometer to be installed in MNS 106 under the care of Dr. Christopher R. Burtner of the Department of Biology, Marine Biology, and Environmental Science.
