Applications will open in mid-December!
The RI-INBRE Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (RI-INBRE SURF) is a 10-week
summer research experience aimed at providing undergraduate students with laboratory skills
that can be applied toward research careers in the biomedical sciences. This is a full-time,
immersive experience requiring students to work 30-35 hours per week in their assigned
laboratory. Students are primarily assigned to labs at URI and Brown. Students may express
interest in working with a specific mentor, but we do not guarantee assignment to that lab.
Dates
The program will run from May 27, 2025 through August 1, 2025.
Students are required to attend training at URI on May 27 and to present a poster on August 1 at
URI. Other professional development sessions may also be required during the 10-week period.
Support
Students will receive up to $5250 in salary over the 10-week period. RIPTA bus passes may be
available based on need. Housing is the responsibility of the student.

I am so pleased to celebrate the renewal of the federal grant to continue this important work over the next five years. This source of funding has been critical for bringing resources for biomedical research to our state and ensuring we have a workforce to continue these efforts for years to come.Jack Reed, US Senator (RI)
