Biography

Dr. Steven D. ​Cohen is the Chair of the External Advisory Committee and Professor Emeritus, and Founding Chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences,  Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, Worcester, MA. ​During his earlier 28 years of  faculty service at the University of Connecticut, ​Dr. Cohen founded and directed the​University’s Center for Biochemical Toxicology and its Interdepartmental, Graduate and Postdoctoral ​​Research​ Training ​Program in Toxicology.  ​In 2007 he received the Distinguished Emeritus Faculty Award from the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy.  Dr. Cohen is a Fellow of the Academy of Toxicological Sciences and has served on many advisory panels for NIH, other government agencies and the pharmaceutical and chemical industry.  His major research contributions on biochemical and molecular mechanisms of toxicity emphasized liver and kidney injury after acetaminophen overdose.  He is a Past-President of the Society of Toxicology and a past-recipient of the Society’s Education Award.
