Dr. Ahmet E. Akosman, Roger Williams University
Dr. Akosman (RI-INBRE Investigator and ECD Awardee) contributes the research work his undergraduates (Ethan Howard, Julia Ward, and Bradley King) have been able to accomplish to the ECD award funding he obtained. 
Through their research, Ethan, Julia, Bradley, and Dr. Akosman were able to write their first conference paper together (“Enhancing THz chemical sensing with elliptical cladding elements in negative curvature fibers”) which was submitted to IEEE International Photonics Conference 2023 and presented in November at the conference in Orlando, FL.
In addition to the conference, the three undergraduate students presented their work at IEEE MIT UTRC (Undergraduate Technology and Research Conference) back in September. According to Dr. Akosman, Ethan, Julia, and Bradley were super excited for the opportunity.
