Research: My research involves using changes in diatom assemblage and size to proxy the environmental changes in their habitat. While I normally use this method to research changes in position of the Antarctic Polar Front over glacial time scales, this summer I attempted to apply the same technique to Narragansett Bay cores, where the changes in the diatoms were influenced by both global and anthropogenic nitrogen inputs.
