Who we are
The mission of the Center is to provide leaders with professional learning and support to create equitable outcomes for students in our schools.
We believe the best way to learn is together and the best way to lead is by example; therefore, our programs engage leaders in professional learning communities that model best practices for staff development in schools. The Center currently runs two such programs for teacher and school leaders, theĀ Principal Residency Network (PRN) and the Learning Leader Network (LLN).
The PRN has graduated 109 aspiring principals over the last 14 years. The placement rate for PRN graduates in leadership positions is approximately 90%. PRN leaders have served in more than 20 Rhode Island school districts.
What we offer
The mission of the PRN is to develop a cadre of principals who champion educational equity through leadership of innovative schools. The LLN specializes in transformational learning for adults that inspires educational justice and works to provide equitable outcomes for students.
- The PRN accepts pairs of qualified aspiring principals and mentor principals to engage in an intensive residency-based program.
- Aspiring principals serve in their schools and are awarded administrative certification upon successful completion of the program.
- The LLN offers Facilitating Professional Learning Community Institutes, a Statewide Critical Friends Group (CFG), specialized Community of Practice meetings, Strategic Planning, and we provide a full menu of services to support individualized organizational needs.
Key needs
Continued partnerships with organizations that share a fierce commitment to educational equity for all students in Rhode Island.
