Major Charles R. Griffin

Biography

Major Charles “Rick” Griffin is a native of Milledgeville, Georgia, where he graduated from Georgia Military College Preparatory School. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in May 2012 through the Army ROTC program at Marion Military Institute.

Following completion of the Transportation Basic Officer Leader Course at Fort Lee, Virginia, Major Griffin was assigned to the 41st Transportation Company at Fort Polk, Louisiana, serving as a Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer. After completing the Captain’s Career Course, he transitioned to the 82nd Airborne Division. During this tenure, he commanded Hotel Forward Support Company (FSC), 2nd Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, and later commanded Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC), 2nd Brigade Combat Team. As the HHC Commander, Major Griffin deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. Upon redeployment, he served as the Battalion Operations Officer (S3) for the 407th Brigade Support Battalion.

In 2022, Major Griffin deployed in support of Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force 10 (CJSOTF-10), serving as the Deputy J4. Following this assignment, he attended and graduated from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. In his most recent assignment, Major Griffin served as the Battalion Executive Officer for the 82nd Brigade Support Battalion at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Major Griffin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Georgia College and State University, as well as Master’s degrees from the University of Kansas, Amberton University, and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.

His military awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (1OLC), Army Commendation Medal (3OLC), Army Achievement Medal (1OLC), Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal, Combat Action Badge, and the Senior Parachutist Badge.
