Hilda Lloréns named Distinguished Scholar at Wellesley College - Hilda Lloréns, professor of Anthropology, Gender & Women’s Studies, and Marine Affairs, has been appointed as the 2025-2026 Cornille Distinguished Scholar at Wellesley College. Lloréns will work on completing her latest book during her residency.

Carlos Garcia-Quijano Co-authors Report on Ocean Science - Carlos Garcia-Quijano (Anthropology and Marine Affairs) co-authored a report, titled Forecasting the Ocean: The 2025-2035 Decade of Ocean Science, which was requested by the National Science Foundation. Garcia-Quijano was the only social scientist who contributed to the report.
New Rhode Island Survey Initiative Polls - Sociology professor, Julie Keller, is involved in the Rhode Island Survey Initiative, which released new polls revealing Rhode Islanders’ opinions on key election issues, including trust in the election system, voter fraud, AI-generated misinformation, and fears of election-related violence.

University celebrates Graduate Research Fellowship Program winners for 2024 - Erik Schlicht (Anthropology '20) was awarded a prestigious National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. He is studying anthropology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
