Possible new time for Academic Meeting

• Everyone filled out the When-To-Meet

 

Nursing

• URI Communications should be sent out to inform the nursing community due to their recent changes and moving
  • Changes need to be made to the form Chairman Temple made out
• Food plan?
  • Not a lot of students have them because they go to Providence and some do not live on campus
  • They might not offer it anymore
  • RAM account

 

Academic Complaints

• Recent spike in them

 

Indigenous People’s Day

• Will not be on the Faculty Senate floor for a while
  • We have to do research on how the name will affect financial aid, in regards if people still have it off
  • All in hopes to make the faculty more comfortable voting “yes” on it

 

Faculty Senate Constitution

• Possible change to give some power to Academic Chair meeting as at the moment only the President has power and without them the power goes to the Vice President, however immediate instinctual memory does not recall a single Vice President attending Faculty Senate
  • Appointing someone to stand as member of senate to be able to have power or should it be just the President and another specific title

 

Library

• Maker’s_Space does not follow the same hours as the library and some of the library staff is unaware of what happens with it

 

Interdisciplinary Majors

• Vice-Chair Morabito wants to contact the Providence Campus Senate in regards to how they go about their own version of interdisciplinary majors

 

Affordability Survey

• Look out for a google doc to put in questions

 

OER

• OER bill going towards Faculty Senate
• Send Professors who use OERs to Chairman Temple

 

Faculty Senate Committee

• Honors Faculty Senate Committee met and they talked about the honors project
  • Engineering students capstone project, should it count for an honors project
  • New courses were approved
  • Too many people are in it

 

NEASC

• Monday through Wednesday
• Monday meeting 4-5pm in the room 360
  • They want student participation
• Wednesday results that NEASC found
  • They also want student participation in this

 

Other Committees

• Try out other committees, it’s fun and it makes you more well rounded and knowledgeable!

 

Faculty Senate

• Meeting this Thursday in Beaupre from 3pm-5pm
