I. Finance

  • We only have $1500 left (it is in Programming)
  • Sailing team is coming for loan to go to World Competition
  • Midnight Madness fund going to Block Party and mocktails, Slush fund going to Rammies
  • Extra money will roll over into tax, but if the amount is for under $1,000 we can approve it in exec.
  • We could take money out of tax for groups but we shouldn’t because it is supposed to be there for emergencies.
  • We have a cd up in May and we’re taking it, not investing it again. We’re going to use it for rope’s course and men’s crew team among other things.

II. Campus

  • Police survey: On 7 add question, “If yes, where?”, on 11 change well being to safety, on 13 take out “be able to” in both parts, and on 16 change “assailant” to “individual”. Also, last question should be, “Should they have firearms?” (yes or no question).
  • Send out the survey through Survey Monkey. Jodhi and other officials will review and revise survey before sending it out.
  • Vote on survey: 8-0-0
  • Gianna Prata as vice chair, Vote: 8-0-0

III. External

  • Had first meeting Friday
  • For lawsuit, by May 7th we need undisputed facts, so we’re helping lawyer compile them. For example, we’re proving that we are a majority of the population.
  • The lawyer gave us some ideas: create good publicity because the few stupid kids make us look bad and boycott Narragansett businesses so that owners get mad at town council.
  • O’Brien will get Amanda contact information for Narragansett Coalition.
  • With SEC for next fall we want to get a speaker- police officer who will go over proper etiquette when dealing with police officers when they come to your house. This will be mainly for Narragansett residents. Allen mentioned that ACLU also does a similar thing, Amanda would like to team the two up.
  • Should hand out flyers/magnets to realtors to give to all students who rent property so that they know about External Affairs.
  • In September, we should set up block parties for all the different neighborhoods so that students and regular residents can meet and start out on a good foot.
  • Chris Raupers wants to start intramural teams for the different neighborhoods.
  • Maybe attack Durkin???
  • Utilize survey monkey!

IV. Cultural

  • 3 finalists from SEC’s Last Comic Standing will perform at Rammies (Dave thinks they should start after opener not before).
  • Half done with the order of the show.
  • Jasmine and Ivy are giving us a good deal on flowers for Rammies.
  • Campus Copy- going to get thick cardboard for awards so they do not fall apart.
  • First Night- give out something at our table like gavel key chains or gavel pens. This will come out of First Night budget.
  • Also going to make a bigger copy of the committee poster to hang up at table, pass out little candy, and get hot water for dunk tank.
  • Right before school ends committee is going to create posters for First Night
  • Battle of the Cans up until Thanksgiving next semester. Every group asked to participate. Feinstein is looking to help us out, and we’re going to ask Ronzio’s for free pizza for winners.
  • Kim- people are doing homework on the computer and they shouldn’t be!! Dave is going to write up an office code of conduct and will post it in the office so rules are clearly displayed.
  • End of fall semester next year, will attempt another Holiday Fair with different cultural groups. Hopefully it goes better than Dave’s J
