  1. WRIU Constitution Amendment
    1. The constitution was modified to include the Marketing/PR Director position. The position has been filled and stipended for the past several years.

Stipend Review

 

  • Student Entertainment Committee
    • About the organization
      • Increase cultural awareness, promote student interaction and involvement.  SEC exists for the students and is run by students.  Bring large name entertainment and lectures to URI.  Partner with other organizations to bring big name speakers and education events to campus
    • Concerts President
      • Work as part of a team to talk to the advisor.  Build shows from the ground up.  Hold subcommittee meetings weekly to discuss ideas for shows.  The concerts subcommittee currently has 8 members.  Occasionally get the opinion of the campus to help identify what people want to see.  Work with advisor to get quotes.  Work with advertising manager and PR coordinator to make sure the flyers and other advertising gets out there.  Does minimum of 6 office hours weekly (not including time spent on the day of the show).  Required to attend all events held by other SEC members.
      • Fall events are chosen based on what would sell well (raise money to help fund events later in the year).
      • Holds about 2 or 3 concerts every year.  Planning to do two concerts this year.

  • WRIU
    • About
      • WRIU is the largest non-commercial radio station in Rhode Island.  Provides experience to students looking to go into broadcasting profession.
    • Marketing/PR director
      • Decides the premiums for the radiothon (What monetary donations to the radio gets what item in return).  Looks up the prices and designs the stickers and logos that the group uses.  WRIU and RIU2 has gained at least 100 viewers since the position-holder has started advertising shows.  Minimum of 2 office hours weekly.
      • Designed mugs, baseball cap, pens, t-shirts, other items for the radiothon.
      • Necessity of position:  Advertise the available resources of the radio station.  People can record PSAs and broadcast music.  Broadens the radio’s horizons and broadens the horizons of the campus in general.
      • Advertisement strategies: follow people on twitter.  Record a PSA.  Tweeted about campus events.  Staying current is the main method of performing the duties.  Create posts on facebook and twitter to reach the broad age group of listeners.

  • The Good 5 Cent Cigar
    • Staff Photographer
      • Send as many photographers as possible to different events.  Getting photos from other sources is a last resort for the paper.
      • For the last 3 semesters, the newspaper has filled four positions.  The photographers have different styles and different interests.  Able to send the photographers to all different places and feature all their different styles.
      • The position does not have any formal training.
