Career Events


Health Studies hosted an event, Exploring non-Clinical Health Careers on October 4, 2017 that was attended by 125 students. The event began with a panel presentation that was followed by interactive breakout sessions hosted by the speakers. This was the first Health Studies career event to feature graduates of the program! We would like to thank our speakers for sharing their experiences, advice, and time:

Health Studies majors attended a lively panel, Exploring Careers Promoting Health, and then attended one of 4 interactive Q&A sessions hosted by the presenters on October 25th.  We would like to thank the speakers for a great evening and sharing their career experiences, offering wisdom, and providing guidance.

  • Ms. Alison Crocke, MHA, Vice President of Medicare-Medicaid Integration, Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island
  • Mr. Joseph Dziobek, MSW, Director of Welcome House, and past president of the president/CEO of Fellowship Health Resources, Inc.
  • Ms. Daniela Quilliam, MPH, Chief, Center for Acute Infectious Disease Epidemiology at the Rhode Island Department of Health


Over 100 students attended a  career event, Health-related Careers across the Lifespan jointly offered by Health Studies and Human Development and Family Studies on April 13. The event started with a panel presentation with speakers providing an overview of their career trajectories. The panel presentation was followed by lively interactive question and answer sessions hosted by each of the speakers. A great big thank you to all of the speakers and students for a successful evening!

On November 3rd, 2015, Health Studies hosted a Mock Interview Night at Roosevelt Hall.  Participating students had the opportunity to complete two interviews with a healthcare professional and receive immediate feedback.  Many thanks to the volunteer interviewers!

The spring event, Bridging Communications and Health Career Paths, was offered in partnership with the Harrington School of Communication. The event was designed to inform students about careers that intersect between health and communications.

Speakers provided students with insights about about their career paths, and each speaker then led a lively and interactive break out session. Speakers included:

  • Ms. Llaen Coston-Clark, MeYou Health
  • Ms. Ellen Cynar, Healthy Communities
  • Mr. Edward Quinlan, Former President, Hospital Association of Rhode Island

Health Studies hosted a fall symposium, Careers in Non-Clinical Health Profession, that provided students with the opportunity to hear about a variety of non-clinical health career paths.  We would like to thank all of our excellent speakers:

In partnership with the College of Business, Health Studies sponsored a symposium, Intersections Between Business and Health, to highlight careers that emerge when unique disciplines intersect. Mr. Edward Quinlan, President, Hospital Association of Rhode Island and Health Studies External Advisory Board member, moderated the event. The panelists included:

  • Ms. Candice Fioravanti, Manager & Health Coach at Provant Health and Health Studies External Advisory Board member
  • Dr. Rajiv Kumar, Founder, Shape Up Rhode Island
  • Mr. Bryan Liese, Lean Six Sigma Project Manager, South County Hospital
  • Thomas Magliocchetti, Vice President of Facilities Management, Rhode Island Hospital.
Health Studies will be hosting a career event on April 19th at 6:15 PM in the Auditorium in the Pharmacy Building. Hope to see you there!
