Opened in 2012, Hillside Hall is URI’s largest, newest, and most energy efficient residence hall. The building houses approximately 621 first year students in four LLCs (Living & Learning Communities): College of Pharmacy; College of Nursing; Chinese Flagship; and Harrington School of Communication and Media.
Recipient of the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certification, Hillside is a massive “H” shaped structure in the residential area, featuring a five-story wing on one side, with a glass sky bridge linking it to the other four-story wing. The bridge provides each floor with outstanding views of the campus and what students often refer to as “Zen” rain gardens in the courtyards.
The building has 27 air-conditioned study lounges, as well as small gathering spaces in each hallway to promote a sense of community for either meetings or studies. Hillside is a vibrant and spirited campus community with lots of positive energy, housing academically focused and studious residents. Hillside has top-notch amenities and enthusiastic staff who will help provide the best residential experience and help our freshmen move on through their academic journey.
There are no kitchens in the rooms, so a meal plan is required.
