Biography

Kara Larsen joined URI in June 2020 as the Assistant Vice President for Enterprise Risk Management. This position was created to develop a robust Enterprise Risk Management structure at URI, comprising Affirmative Action, Equal Opportunity, Title IX, Risk Control and Insurance, Enterprise Compliance, Environmental Health & Safety, policy administration and employee compliance training.

Kara joined URI from the Washington State Department of Transportation, where she served first as the Director of the Office of Equal Opportunity and then as the Director of Risk Management and Legal Services. Prior to that she was in private practice with Davis Wright Tremaine in Seattle for five years. She holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Washington and a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts degrees from Boston College.
