Nursing, B.S.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Nursing is a creative profession that provides human services for the promotion of health, prevention of illness and care of the ill. It is interdependent with all other disciplines concerned with health. Therefore the curriculum integrates the humanities and the physical and social sciences with nursing courses. Students begin nursing courses during their freshman year with NUR 100, Professional Practice in Health and Illness. The BS is designed to prepare you to become a professional nurse, eligible to take the State Licensing Examination (NCLEX-RN). The student is prepared to obtain an entry level position in medical, surgical, geriatric, maternity, pediatric, psychiatric-mental health or community nursing in a variety of settings: hospitals, home health care, clinics, community health agencies, hospices or the armed services.
