Graphic Design

The Graphic Design studio courses at URI provide a deep understanding of the design creative process and the fundamental elements and principles of two and three dimensional design.

First, students begin exploring techniques of composition, rendering, and production, they use sketching and industry-standard software through project-based assignments that promote creative thinking and problem solving skills. Later, in the advanced Graphic Design course, students mature their own design project while they develop an awareness of the industry and professional practice methodology.

Current visual communication issues are considered through extensive research and the application of learned concepts and skills that introduce students to the graphic design practice. Throughout the URI Graphic Design experience, students gain real exposure to become fully acquainted graphic designers.

Our Facilities

  • Media lab (20 iMacs with full suite of Adobe CC programs and other auxiliary media production/editing programs).
  • Two large-format printers for digital projects
