Q. What makes the College of Arts and Sciences at URI unique?
A. The College of Arts and Sciences is so unique because it’s so vast. It’s our largest college here at the University in terms of majors that we offer! Each major is distinct and detailed with tons of opportunities embedded into each program.
What accomplishments and/or activities at URI are you most proud of now?
I would have to say that my proudest accomplishment would have been making the Dean’s List 6 semesters straight! I didn’t get great grades in high school so it felt good knowing that I was able to improve my academic performance as a whole while at URI.
What research projects, internships, experiential learning, and/or study abroad programs did you participate in at URI? How did they enhance your education?
The beautiful thing about the Theatre and Film/Media majors here at URI is that most of the learning is experiential. The classroom work is preparing you to go out and create art so pretty much every valuable piece of experiential learning, whether it be working on a show or film, it probably started in class and carried into the production. This process of the work being done in class carries into the production is great because it allows me to have real tangible work to put on my portfolio as well as get real experience doing the things I love doing.
What do you value about your liberal arts education?
I think my liberal arts education has taught me so much. In a liberal arts education, you’re taught to ask a ton of questions. Questions are great because they teach you that not everything is so black and white. In fact, the world has a ton of grey and that’s okay. Everything is up to your interpretation and liberal arts education teaches you how to find your ability to interpret something for yourself.
Anything else you’d like to share?
Yes! Black Lives Matter.
