Gillian Hodge ‘23 double majors in Chinese and international studies and diplomacy. She interned at the China Maritime Studies Institute at the Naval War College in Newport, RI.
“Having the opportunity to learn not only about geopolitics and power but also about the history and background of places I was previously unfamiliar with, like Tanzania and Sri Lanka, was really eye opening for me. I was also able to use the research I did through this internship for my honors project,” she says. “Unpaid internships are great for experience but difficult financially, and with the help of RhodyNow fund donors who made the A&S Internship Fund possible, students like me are able to pursue all opportunities available here at URI!”
