Erin Torgersen ‘23, a double major in Chinese and global business management, interned with the Rhode Island General Treasurer’s Office.
“I assisted their outreach manager and helped to plan events hosted by the treasurer, or that the treasurer attended to be in touch with the constituents of Rhode Island to more effectively perform his job,” she says. “In addition, I was able to research policies of pension funds in other states. This information can be used to compare and in some cases update the pension policy of Rhode Island. The highlight was getting the experience of working in the State House. Being there gave me so many opportunities to learn about the daily operations of the State Government as well as the greater procedures of Rhode Island policy. I met a great number of Rhode Island State employees, all of whom are able to give me more information and a different perspective of State Government.”
