Q. How did your URI degree best prepare you for your career path?
A. My degree helped me create an amazing network of like minded people that have helped drive me and my dreams forward. The faculty in URI’s art department are amazing! I wouldn’t be who I am or where I am today without them.
In your opinion, what is the value of the arts both academically and in the community?
The value of arts is unlimited. Art is everywhere. For me personally, art saved me when I was going through some of the darkest parts of my life. It gave me a reason to wake up each morning and it filled my life with light each time I created something.
What advice would you give to current students or to young people thinking of pursuing a Fine Arts degree?
Take your courses seriously and connect with others in the program, networking is key. You will get out exactly what you put in, show up and do the work to the best of your ability and keep pushing yourself.
