Earlier this semester, with the support of funding from the College of Arts and Sciences’ Impact Fund, the Department of Writing & Rhetoric hosted an inclusion workshop for their faculty and staff. The URI Inclusion Workshop sessions, led by Dr. Annemarie Vaccaro and sponsored by the Office of the Provost, are designed to assist faculty in creating more inclusive and equitable learning environments. Among other things, the interactive workshop helps faculty navigate issues such as how to effectively teach all students, develop strategies to design and more inclusive and engaging course curriculum, and determine proactive ways to respond to discrimination when it emerges in the classroom.
