KINGSTON, R.I. — November 2025 — The University of Rhode Island Department of Music proudly presents Little Women: The Broadway Musical, performed by the URI Lyric Stage Workshop with members of the URI Symphony Orchestra.
Based on the beloved novel by Louisa May Alcott, this sweeping musical adaptation brings to life the story of the March sisters—Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy—as they navigate growing up, love, loss, and the pursuit of their dreams in 19th-century New England. Featuring a lush score by Jason Howland, lyrics by Mindi Dickstein, and book by Allan Knee, the show celebrates imagination, family, and resilience.
The production is directed by Rachel Hanauer, Artist Teacher of Voice at URI, with music direction by Michael Kelly and Ryan Cox, choreography by Allison Campbell and Olivia Dufresne, and fight choreography by Eileen Goretaya. The technical and stage management team includes Jaqui Drobnis and Olivia Dufresne (Stage Managers), Jacob Wolf (Concert Hall Manager/Technical Direction), and Liam Knott (Light Board Operator). Performances feature the URI Symphony Orchestra and guest musicians in the pit.
Little Women: The Broadway Musical will be performed in the URI Fine Arts Center Concert Hall on Thursday, November 13 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, November 16 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at uri.edu/music/events or at the door.
